Ajax Skating Club Coaches;
Each skater who registers for a STARSkate session are required to have a coach for private lessons.
- Private lessons are an agreement between the skater, parent and the coach. This is independent of the ASC; the ASC endorses all of our coaches equally and will not recommend a coach. The ASC assumes no responsibility for private lessons, such as fees charged or scheduled times. When you are interested in hiring a private coach, contact is made directly with the coach. Coaches’ pictures, contact information and Bio's are listed below.
- When you are selecting a private coach, you should discuss availability, fees, lesson types and number of lessons per week. In order for the coach to meet all of your needs, contact the coach as early as possible. It is the skater’s responsibility to inform their coach if they are going to be absent from a lesson.
- A STARSkater’s main coach will teach all disciplines – freeskate, skills and dance. As a skater becomes more advanced, his or her coach may recommend adding a specialist coach – in dance, choreography, etc – to supplement lessons from the skater’s main coach, or a parent can approach the main coach and negotiate an agreement for additional coaching.
All ASC professional coaches are specially trained and certified by Skate Canada, which includes coaching proficiency as well as First Aid training and insurance. Our coaches’ qualification level -- as mandated by the Coaches Association of Canada -- are based on the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). Our coaches are certified as CanSkate coaches or NCCP levels (1 through 5). As part of maintaining their coaching certification, our coaches each participate in continuous learning through Skate Canada.
